In order to redesign the forum homepage, I logged in as a student to gain a better understanding of the user experience.I began examining the problems with usability and subsequently made a list of the UI designs that could benefit from improvement.

Design process
After gaining a comprehensive understanding of the existing user flow and identifying usability issues, I began to document solutions based on industry standards to address these problems. In order to design new components, I conducted a competitive analysis, exploring other educational products and their features. In addition, I researched popular platforms such as Reddit, Quora, LinkedIn, Coursera, and IXDF to gain a better understanding of the design language used for forum pages or similar interfaces where users post questions and receive responses
Design decisions
After gaining a clear understanding of the end user, their tasks, and the essential information required to accomplish their goals, I started the redesign process with a well-defined plan in mind.

Navigation component
To simplify navigation and enhance user focus, I designed new elements for the main navigation of the forum. Given that Nursing students are unlikely to be interested in legal forums, it is crucial to provide a way to overlook irrelevant categories and prevent users from being overwhelmed.

After selecting their main field, students can use the category component to easily choose their desired subcategory. This approach prevents users from being overwhelmed by irrelevant categories and enables them to focus on their specific interests.

Review guidelines
Having a permanent location to review guidelines, particularly on the forum page, is essential to ensure that users are aware of the rules and expectations for participation. This can help prevent inappropriate behavior, promote a positive community culture, and enhance the overall user experience.

I designed both the primary and secondary buttons to provide users with a clear understanding of their options when creating a new topic or adding it to their watchlist.

I created a new layout that features visually prominent elements to enhance the scannability and perception of information, such as the topic name, number of replies, views, and time.

In this phase of the redesign, I focused on designing a forum topic page that expands upon the existing forum layout. The new design features all relevant information about the topic, including the number of views and replies. Additionally, users can add the topic to their watchlist and easily reply to the topic
